Have you ever broken open a bee hive? Or dug into ant hill? That¹s how 445 6th Ave. South looked yesterday. With a great group from Elkay Mfg. in Savanna and Jenny Eikelberry of Jenny¹s Painting and More, along with our regular volunteers, we were able to get the entire interior of the house painted with two coats of paint, as well as getting the shutters mounted and some yard clean up finished. We had people busy in every room at once and had the whole job wrapped up in three hours! (plus some early prep work.) Thank you, Elkay. Jenny, Jean, Bob, and Davida. Work in the immediate future will be in the hands of specialists. The next call for volunteers likely will be when we work on sidewalks, the parking slab, and storage shed. I will keep you informed with as much notice as I can.

This is a hand up not a hand out

Habitat for Humanity works with volunteers to build the home. The Partner Family puts in a minimum of 350 Sweat Equity hours toward the build of the home. The Partner Family assumes a low interest mortgage with Habitat. This arrangement makes homeownership possible for those who would not quality for a traditional home loan.

We have started our 11th build!!

Will you help us?

Art Speaks --Oct 22 - Nov4

This week the electricians and the plumbers are working to get their work finished, including the startup of the furnace. Saturday, Local #145 of the IBEW (the electricians) will have a group working to install outlets, switches, lights and other electrical things. On Wednesday, the portion of the floor getting vinyl planking will be measured. Soon, the same will happen to the carpeted areas. Flooring will be ordered and be installed in the next couple of weeks. Next will come the installation of the cabinets and the trim. The lawn should be graded soon, with actual planting likely to be in the Spring again.

Thank You -- Labor Unions, Companies, Organizations, & Others!

Thank You Representative Mary Wolfe and Senator Rita Hart for meeting with us-
